Building a Censorship-Resistant Digital Presence: A Workshop for Psychedelic Educators
Why we need new tools to safeguard our message—and how you can learn to reclaim your digital sovereignty
Have you or your organization ever found yourselves quietly shadow-banned, unexpectedly de-platformed, or losing reach on social platforms without warning? If so, you’re not alone. Many in our community—especially those sharing honest information about psychedelics and harm reduction—are feeling the impact of these shifting digital sands.
While we don’t know what triggered this, it’s become clear that relying on centralized platforms can introduce risks for any community, including those in the psychedelic space. This prevents our entire industry to educate the public about the safe and ethical use of psychedelics. The content most of these sites write about have nothing to do with selling any substances. It is to educate and reduce the risk of using these substances, much of it backed up by high quality research with regards to its benefits in clinical and non-clinical settings.
Yes, one can have sites on Squarespace, WordPress, etc or design their own via Wix, Webflow and other “no-coding” templated based sites. I was using Squarespace for my 3 websites. While that made sense when I only had 1 page or section a couple of years ago, it no longer makes sense to pay that much to get almost no flexibility and I also found that for my needs, the limitations of template-based sites made it harder and more time consuming to manage the content. The costs often outweighed the benefits.
As we are entering the age of AI, the tools have gotten very good to the point that one can build their own website, content management system, and host it for free for the vast majority of sites. We no longer have to use these expensive platforms or have to deal with arbitrary shut downs. We can be in control of our own content platform, including design, and hosting for mostly free.
There are three reasons that one should learn a little bit on how to build a censorship-resistant website, particularly for psychedelic industry but also for all solopreneurs in the mental health space:
Become radically self-reliant
Save money
Create your own brand with little to no money
If you’re curious how to get started, join us for this practical seminar.
It does not take much to learn a little vocabulary with a basic understanding and use the tools to free yourselves from the shackles of centralized media platforms.
There are alternatives that are better and cheaper. Come learn how.
It is for anyone that has not built a website before or used one of the template based platforms like Squarespace or Wordpress. Whether you’re in mental health, psychedelics, education, or offer coaching or therapy, you can build your own resilient brand and digital presence—one that stands strong even in uncertain times.
I’m hosting a practical seminar focused on building censorship-resistant web spaces. My aim is to share knowledge for each one of us to become self-reliant. I want to walk through simple, actionable steps anyone can take to create an independent digital presence—one that can’t easily be erased, whether by algorithms or abrupt policy changes.
This workshop draws from my experience in software, privacy, and decentralized tech over the past 25 years. I hope to make these ideas accessible, demystifying what it means to “own your presence online”
We’ll cover:
What it means to build outside of big tech platforms
Practical tools and frameworks for creating, connecting, and sustaining your community
Steps for getting started, whether you’re brand new or looking to strengthen what you have
This isn’t just for techies—if you care about keeping your work visible and your community safe, this is for you.
